Rock Power Connections welcomes Becca Davies and Laura English

We are delighted to welcome new Assistant Project Manager, Becca Davies, and Operations Assistant, Laura English to our expanding team.

Becca and Laura play a crucial role in the organisation of electrical installations for our clients, from ordering parts to assisting in technical planning.

We caught up with them both to find out a bit more about their background and what they are enjoying most about being part of the Rock Power Connections team.

Becca, Laura, it’s great to have you both join Rock Power Connections team! Tell us a little bit about your backgrounds:

Becca: “I have worked in the utilities industry for the past 14 years. I started working with overhead powerlines, and grew my knowledge and understanding for Distribution Network Operators and independent connections from there. All of my experience has led me to this current role at Rock and I am ready to be taking the next step!”

Laura: “I have now been at Rock Power Connections for three months, which has flown by! Previously, I was a customer experience department manager for a supermarket. I worked in retail since I left school, which was around 19 years, so moving across to a completely new industry has been a huge learning curve, but one I am really enjoying!”

What drew you to the role at Rock Power Connections?

Becca: “Rock was actually recommended to me by a friend! After doing my own research and speaking to director, Kev Sankar, I felt confident that moving to Rock was the best next step in my career path, and it is something I’m very excited about.”

Laura: “My partner, Rob, already works in the design and tendering team at Rock, so I already knew a lot about the company’s ethos and culture. I was at a point in my career where I was ready for a change, as well as a role that would allow me to spend more time with my family. The position of operations assistant became available, and I knew from experience that Rock is a family run business with great values and flexibility, so when Rob mentioned it, I applied, and here I am!”

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

Becca: “I’m really looking forward to growing my knowledge and skill set further whilst working as part of a dynamic team full of great people.”

Laura: “The new challenges and working in a new industry are what I am most looking forward to. I’m excited to learn new things, push myself out of my comfort zone and take on new responsibilities, all whilst learning a new industry.”

What does the average day at Rock look like for you?

Becca: “My varied role means that no day is ever the same, which is something I really enjoy! I’m responsible for providing project support and assisting in technical planning, so my day will all depend on the project we are working on and the deadlines we have.”

Laura: “Like Becca, none of my days are ever the same, which is great! My role is very varied, from ordering substations to applying for PoCs, and everything in between.”

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Becca: “I enjoy keeping fit and like to exercise to de-stress. I also like to socialise with friends and family.”

Laura: “Nothing beats spending time with my family! We love movie nights, days out and going for food.”
