Collecting trees for St Richard's Hospice: The Rock Team has it down to a pine art
The Rock team are pleased to announce that despite the COVID-19 outbreak we will be safely collecting Christmas Trees in early January 2021, in support of a recycling initiative that raises funds for St Richard’s Hospice.
Households across Worcestershire can register to have their tree collected on 8th January 2021 by numerous volunteers, including the Rock Power Connections team. In return, St Richards asks for a donation to go towards caring and supporting for those living with as serious, progressive illness.
VOLUNTEERING FOR A GREAT CAUSE
To ensure the post-festive clear up is stress free and to raise money for St Richards Hospice, the Rock team will be volunteering to take part in this initiative for the fifth year In a row. Last year, with the help of fellow businesses around Worcestershire, the hospice raised an incredible £33,600 to support their patients and families free care. This was double the amount raised from the previous year.
Operations Director, Reece explains: “Each year, the Rock team and I thoroughly enjoy taking part in the Christmas tree collection on behalf of St Richard’s Hospice. For many, Christmas will be a welcome festive break after a challenging year and we hope there are many trees registered for collection in January.
“We always feel extremely honoured to participate in such a fantastic cause and we're very confident we can undertake our collections with all the safety precautions.”
St Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with serious progressive illnesses. They aim to improve their quality of life from diagnosis, during treatment and to their last days. In addition, the charity looks after people that are affected by their loved one’s illness.
Each year the hospice supports over 3,400 patients and family members in Worcestershire and parts of Gloucestershire and relies on donations like the tree collection initiative to continue their high-quality level of care.
COVID-SAFE TREE COLLECTION
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, this years Christmas tree collection volunteers have safety at the forefront of their minds. The collection of the Christmas trees will be efficient and safe. Simply leave your Christmas tree in your front garden or outside your house and we will take it away.
Electrical Connections Manager, Emma also gets involved each year: "Jayne at St Richard's Hospice does such an incredible job of organising the Christmas tree collection.
We love being involved, year after year and we even get quite competitive amongst the Rock collecting teams as to who can fit the most trees in the van or who can do their round the quickest! It is amazing to be part of an initiative which raises so much for the hospice."
Volunteer teams from local businesses will be collecting trees from the postcode areas around the majority of Worcester, Droitwich, Evesham and Malvern, but the Rock team will be focused within the Warndon Villages in WR4.
