CASE STUDY: A 50KW CHARGER ON THE ENGENIE NETWORK AT A HISTORIC INN
July 13, 2020
A 50KW double-socket Electric Vehicle (EV) charger at The Manor House of Whittington required a new connection from the distribution grid.
The Marston’s pub has an incredible history, originally built in 1310 by Sir William de Whittington, who was the grandfather of Dick Whittington.
Given the Inn is in a more rural location, the distribution network area in the area is overhead lines. Western Power Distribution provided a Point of Connection onsite, by installing a new pole mounted transformer.
The Rock Team undertook all electrical and civils works from the Point of Connection through to the EV chargers.
There was a sloped verge from the overhead pole to the charger position and the cable route was carefully planned to ensure that the link box was installed on a flat surface.
Dan Wooding, Project Manager commented “This was a really smooth installation with good communication with WPD around the final connection. A lovely job with a great result.”
