CASE STUDY: AN EV CHARGER ON THE ENGENIE NETWORK AT THE WAGTAIL PUB
June 8, 2020
A 50KW Electric Vehicle (EV) charger on the Engenie network required an electrical connection.
Installed in the car park of The Wagtail pub in Wincanton, the parking bays were chosen to minimise the cable routes from the distribution grid whilst also ensuring clear access for deliveries to the pub.
Care had to be taken regarding other electrical infrastructure in the immediate vicinity of the EV charger, including street and car parking lighting.
The Rock Team installed a Low Voltage (LV) connection from outside a nearby substation, and provided two individually metered supplies.
The Rock Team carried out all electrical and civil works associated with the installation and wrapped an adjacent light to ensure safety.
Project Manager, Dan Wooding commented: “This was a brilliant outcome for Rock’s first EV charger installation.”
