ELECTRICAL CONNECTION FOR A NEW ALDI STORE IN WIDNES
May 6, 2020
An Aldi store, built on a vacant plot of a redevelopment masterplan in Widnes, needed an electrical connection.
Although the electrical load was a modest 210kVA, the Point of Connection was grated at High Voltage (HV).
As work was undertaken in a busy area, getting an appropriate traffic management plan in place was key. Hitting a tight schedule was also critical to meeting the store opening date.
The Rock Team supplied a 315kVA package substation in a GRP enclosure with a 400A Heavy Duty Cut Out within the store.
Rock’s in-house civils team carried out all offsite excavation and reinstatement and built the substation plinth to DNO standards.
With considerable off and on-site cable routes, working closely with the council and traffic management team was imperative to ensure a safe working environment near excavations.
Rob Davies, Project Manager commented: “Working closely with the customer and the site management team, we were able to energise the supply ready for the store opening.”
