Rock Power Connections welcomes Ken to the team

2019 was an exciting year for Rock Power Connections, where we not only marked our 7th successful year in business, but also welcomed twelve new team members to support our established position as one of the UK’s leading Independent Connections Providers [ICP].

Fundamental to our success in 2020 will be our team of experienced Electrical Connections Managers, who work hard to establish long-term working relationships with our clients and deliver quality installations.

Recently, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming Ken Morbey as an Electrical Connections Manager, specialising in new connections for commercial and apartment developments and Electric Vehicle chargers.

It was great to catch up with Ken and find out what led him to Team Rock.

WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT WORKING IN UTILITY CONNECTIONS?

Ken is no stranger to electrical connections having spent over 24 years in the energy industry, with the last 12 in new connections. Most recently, Ken has been working with developers getting a firm grasp on how energy is integrated throughout building projects; delivering energy solutions such as heat pumps, combined heat and power (CHP), solar and energy storage.

In Ken’s words, “One of the great things about the construction industry is that you get to work across all divisions, seeing a development at all stages. It is always interesting watching a project come together.

You can be in the office one day, out on site another, all over the country. I started in the industry over twenty years ago and I’ve loved the variety since day one.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS KEY TO THE ROLE?

Ken has no hesitation in stating customer service: “Undoubtedly, having a client-focus. Understanding their requirements, drivers and timescales…. what is important to them. It is so important to understand what a client wants and needs and then deliver to that expectation, to keep your promises and communicate.”

Ken also notes the increasing emphasis on sustainability. “Over the past few years, I’ve been working on commercial projects where energy efficiency is integral to the final design. I’ve also been involved in the Future Energy Home project, working with a developer on a minimising the carbon footprint from homes – battery storage and electric vehicles have a really big role to play in the coming years.

With so many developments now having those requirements as part of their planning permission – especially when it comes to Electric Vehicle charging points – it’s valuable already having that experience. It means I really understand their requirements and can integrate them into the design from the start.”

AND HOW ARE YOU FINDING ROCK SO FAR?

“I’m really enjoying it. The Rock Team couldn’t have been more welcoming.”
