CASE STUDY: NEW CONNECTION FOR A LARGE LAUNDRY FACILITY
Specialising in textile maintenance services, Elis (formerly known as Berendsen) needed a 3MVA HV metered supply for a new laundry facility located in Capacity, Dartford.
There was a considerable off-site cable run to the distribution network along a recently reinstated road. Care was taken to minimise disruption whilst undertaking the cable installation.
In addition, the cable route required exceptional organisation to ensure the various street works notices occurred consecutively.
The Rock Team installed and commissioned a 3MVA HV metered supply, though two Ring Main Unit substations (one of which was 1MVA and the other being 2MVA). The metering units were housed in adjacent GRP enclosures.
From a separate connection point on the LV network, a supply was installed to provide lighting within the substations.
In addition, the Rock Team provided a wider trench to also install the mains gas alongside the electrical route.

In addition, the cable laying works needed to fit with the developer’s timescale to ensure the onsite excavation did not hinder the wider development works.”
