What services do Rock Surveying offer?

Rock Surveying boasts a specialist and experienced team who excel in tailoring utility mapping surveys, including underground and topographic surveys together with trial holes, to meet individual demands.

UNDERGROUND UTILITY DETECTION

Rock Surveying uses the latest scanning equipment, combining Electromagnetic and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) methods to accurately map below ground utilities and infrastructure.

This is sometimes referred to as a ‘subscan’, a ‘subtronic’ survey or utility mapping.

The equipment used provides precision locations and depths, flow directions, currents and materials of utilities, enabling to accurately detect the location of underground utilities to the millimetre.

This information is rarely available on statutory plans and these plans are heavily caveated.

In addition, the Rock Surveying team combine the results with visual inspections of excavations, trench scars, above-ground infrastructure (such as street furniture etc) and physical inspections (which can involve lifting or entry into manholes and inspection chambers), which are then combined into one easy-to-read plan providing precise mapping.

In cases where a plan is not required, the Rock Survey team can mark the ground surface.

TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEYS

Rock Surveying undertakes the precision mapping and measurement of surface features with results issued in both 2D and 3D.

In addition, we can combine the topographical results with the underground utility survey information to provide one detailed plan.

BORE OR TRIAL HOLES

Rock Surveying will dig trial holes to confirm the results of an underground utility survey, producing a report of the findings. This is often referred to as PAS128 Level A Verification.

In addition, we can undertake bore holes to provide analysis for pollutants, underground conditions and ground water.
