Here at Rock Power Connections we strongly believe in the importance of a positive working environment, and as a family business pride ourselves on our strong team culture.
That’s why, on Sunday 1st July, the Rock team were delighted to enter Worcester’s ‘Race the Dragon’, annual charity dragon boat regatta, held in aid of St. Richard’s Hospice.
With just an hour of training, 38 members of the Rock Team – from Project Managers and Electrical Engineers through to office staff - took to the water, dividing into two teams of 16 paddlers entitled, ‘Rockin’ The Boat’ and ‘Rock Powered’.
All 36 teams that entered had to complete two 200m upstream paddles, with both times added together to decide the winning teams.
Rock Powered achieved the fastest time of the day of 1:01:75 and came in 5th place, with Rockin the Boat achieving a time of 1:04:40 and 12th place.
On discussing the value of the event, Director of Rock Power Connections, Matt Crampton said: “It was a great team building exercise, but also really reflective of how we work as an organisation. Being fast and efficient and paddling with the Rock ethos of communication and working cohesively as a team.”
Mark Thorne, Team Captain of Rock Powered added: “It was a fantastic family day out and a great opportunity to socialise outside of work.”
