Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree

The Rock Team will be flexing their muscles in the new year by collecting Christmas trees in support of a new recycling initiative to raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice.

Households around Worcestershire can register to have their tree collected from the 13th -15th January, taking the hassle out of the post-festive clear up whilst supporting St Richard's Hospice at the same time. St Richard’s is asking people to make a donation for recycling the tree to support the independent charity’s free care and support of those living with a life-limiting illness.

Staff from Rock Power Connections will be part of a team of volunteers collecting the trees from people's homes. Rachel Jones - the Fundraising Manager at St Richard's Hospice - first mentioned the idea to the Rock Team in the summer.

As Emma explains "It seemed like the perfect fit: Rock has the transport and the muscles! The Directors have been really supportive and there are plenty of households on our doorstep so we'd encourage them to all get registering their trees."

Jayne Sargeant, of St Richard's Hospice, said: "Lots of people love a real Christmas tree for the festive season but the hassle and mess of removing them can be a downside. This service will make life easier because the trees will be collected from their own homes and recycled for them."

Volunteer teams from local businesses will be collecting trees from the postcode areas WR1, WR2, WR3, WR4, WR5, WR7, WR8, WR9, WR11, WR14, and the majority of Worcester, Droitwich, Evesham and Malvern. The crews from Rock Power Connections will be doing the rounds in the Warndon Villages, WR4.

To register your tree for collection, visit www.Charityxmastreecollection.com. The collection dates will be on the weekend of the 13th to the 15th January 2017. Simply leave your tree in your front garden or outside your house and we'll take it away.

St Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with life-limiting illnesses and supports their families. Each year the hospice team supports over 2,500 patients and family members in Worcestershire with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect.
