Rock Power Connections wins Commitment to People Development in Chamber of Commerce Regional Awards
Worcester-based, electrical engineering specialists – Rock Power Connections - is celebrating its second Chamber of Commerce award this season after winning the ‘Commitment to People Development’ Award for the entire West Midlands region.
As a family-run business, Rock Power Connections has put people development at the heart of its business growth strategy, providing extensive up-skilling opportunities for its team of over 20 electrical engineers.
“The success of the business is a direct reflection of the quality and service provided by our electrical engineers” explained Finance Director Matt Crampton. “Most of the team have come from a career in domestic house wiring; very different to working on the high voltage electricity network! We have invested heavily in training to upskill the team alongside gaining nationally-recognised accreditations. All our team are highly motivated and are exceptional advocates for quality, safety and customer service.”
Rock Power Connections are experts in providing new electrical connections to businesses and industry across the country, as well as working with the Distribution Network Operators to upgrade the high voltage electricity network. At any given time, projects can be as diverse as installing simple low voltage connections to connect a new building through to constructing new high voltage 132KVa substations to provide additional electrical capacity to a town.
Operations Director Reece James said “The guys have undertaken some really intense training over the past couple of years. I can’t over-emphasise the complexity and highly technical aspects of what they do. I’m proud of all our team for their hard work and continuous professional development.”
Investing in the team has proved a successful strategy for the business. ”We have built a broad skill set within Rock” commented Commercial Director Kev Sankar. “From supporting HNDs, to creating trainee placements, to multi-skilling the team in construction vehicle licences, we actively promote progression within the company. This gives us flexibility to move into new areas of work and ultimately guarantees quality for our clients.”
The Board of Directors took great pride in visiting the Hereford & Worcester Chamber of Commerce, to be presented with the award by Chairman John Painter.
“We only joined the Chamber this year” explained Reece, “but the level of opportunity through networking, conferences, the Business Expo and these awards has been fantastic. It has been a massive boost to raising our company profile.”
Rock Power Connections is now a finalist for the National Chamber of Commerce Awards, which will be announced at the high-profile Gala Awards Dinner in late November.
