Case study

URS – JCT600 Showrooms

The challenge

Our remit was to design and build a new electricity network that met the client’s needs in terms of capacity, quality and value for money.

Key to this was building strong working relationships with all stakeholders to ensure that we delivered this project on time, on budget and to the highest quality standards.

This project required permission to cross third party land to access the point of connection and would require easements to be agreed with the land owner and incumbent DNO.

Our Approach

Initiating a site meeting with the developer, land owners and the DNO project manager to make introductions and talk through the delivery plan. This ensured we were able to exchange expectations to enable effective delivery.

To mitigate the risks associated with off-site digging and ensure completion against timescales, we negotiated with the land owner and the DNO to install the HV cable prior to the cable easement being completed.

The Result

The relationships built through this process helped us to negotiate permission to lay and energise the HV cable prior to legal completion.

Through excellent planning, communication and using trusted contactors/suppliers, we delivered the project on time and on budget.

“I’m pleased to say all good, a very positive experience all round. As you’ll appreciate there are many stakeholders in such a project and I know that the client, main contractor and the electrical contractor have all been impressed with Rock’s performance. Simon did a great job of seeing this through, he maintained close contact with all relevant parties and provided timely feedback.”
