Case study

East Curry

To install 33/11kV substation for WPD (now NGED).

The Overview of the Challenge

Team Rock were tasked with building a new 33kv/11kv substation next to an existing, which was due to be decommissioned. Once installed, Rock were also required to divert the existing 33kV supply from the old substation, to the new.

Our Approach

Our remit was to design and deliver a new substation in Devon for WPD.  At the time of the install, this was the first Primary build that Rock had completed for WPD in this particular region.

It was imperative that we worked with WPD closely and formed good relationships with their appointed contractors, such as civils and mechanical and electrical contractors, to ensure that the job ran to schedule.

Working in an area of the country that was new to the Rock team, meant that research was carried out to find the most cost effective and convenient suppliers to ensure that the final outcome of the build was successful.

“WPD were extremely happy with the final outcome of the build, and agreed that the work had been carried out to Rock’s high standard, and on a tight schedule.”
