Case study

Connection to a commercial unit on a business park

A commercial client had accepted a connection offer from the Distribution Network Operator, but needed the Rock Team to undertake the works excluded from the DNO quotation.

This included the substation and metering kiosk plinths, onsite trenching and the installation of the LV cables from the substation to the client’s LV panel. In addition, a GRP housing for the substation was also required.

Our Solution

* Timing was critical. The new electrical supply was for a catering unit which had commercial-scale refrigeration that would need to be turned off for the installation.

* As the site was already congested with other services, the Rock Team had to identify the best plinth position to minimise required diversions.

* As the GRP arrival date was not suiting the client’s need to get energised, the Rock Team built a temporary cover to get the supply live.

“I would like to state that I was more than impressed with the overall performance on site of your civils team. From day one their approach to all aspects of their working on site was exceptional and a credit to Rock Power and especially themselves. The quality, coordination and method of work was first class and their approach to health and safety was excellent. Rock Power Connections’ systems of works are to a very high standard, which they maintained throughout the duration on site. In light of this experience I will certainly recommend Rock Power Connections for any future projects.”
