Case study

BSW Timber – Electrical Utilities

To install a HV (High Voltage) RMU (Ring Main Unit) to be adopted by NPG (Northern Power Grid).  This connection will be to supply HV to the clients own private supply to run their timber processing plant.

The overview of the challenge:

The cable route to site was approximately 700m along a dead-end road, on an industrial estate with lots of HGVs using this road to access their units.

Due to a previously demolished factory on the site, the ground was tested to confirm no contaminants were evident and that the project could move forward with no complications.

Unfortunately, the RMU developed a fault prior to energising and this delayed the project by 4 weeks.

Our Approach:

To replace the RMU with immediate effect. This project required consultation, as there were a variety of resolutions to solve for the client’s requirements.  Liaising with neighbouring industrial units with regards to HGV traffic and the council due to traffic management.

The Result:

The Rock Power Connections team managed the clients’ expectations effectively from beginning to the end of the project.

“This was a RPC ran construction site working for the Landlord to install the equipment to be adopted by NPG (Northern Power Grid).”
